The award-winning Senior Symphony Orchestra is comprised of more than one hundred talented high school musicians from throughout the Bay Area. The orchestra studies under the baton of Dr. Jindong Cai, ECYS Music Director and master teacher who challenges the musicians to reach a high level of achievement.
In addition to featuring outstanding student soloists, professionals of international renown regularly perform with the ECYS Symphony.
In the 2015-2016 season, ECYS was thrilled to present world-renowned Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Gold Medalist Jon Nakamatsu who performed the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Senior Orchestra at the Annual Benefit Concert; and dazzling Finnish violinist Minna Pensola who performed the Sibelius Violin Concerto at the Sibelius Celebration Concert.
