El Camino Wind Orchestra

The El Camino Wind Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Richard Roper, is a woodwind, brass, and percussion ensemble composed of bright young middle and high school students from across the Bay Area.

ECWO musicians experience a wide breadth of repertoire, ranging from classical transcriptions to modern works just a few years old.

As an advanced/intermediate orchestra, students are given thorough instruction on ensemble balance and intonation while experiencing a rigorous challenge of their technical skills.

A truly "20th Century ensemble,” the Wind Orchestra aims to expose its musicians to contemporary sounds in addition to the more common classic style. While the ECWO serves as a preparatory ensemble for some students, it is also often a destination for musicians who prefer a wind orchestra program.

The ECWO season runs September through May, and the musicians perform in three concerts during the year. Recent concerts include performances at the Menlo-Atherton Center for the Performing Arts and the Albert and Janet Schultz Cultural Arts Hall of Palo Alto.

Wind Orchestra musicians are encouraged to enroll in ECYS Summer Music Workshop III - Wind Ensemble.

Wind Orchestra musicians are eligible to enroll in the ECYS
Chamber Music and Performance Outreach Program.
